In one of the latest YouTube videos, I might have ruffled some feathers. But really, I'm quitting Instagram because it just isn't it as a creator. Now, let's dive into why I'm shifting my focus from Instagram and putting all my energy into YouTube for my content creation journey.
The Reality of Instagram for Creators
For years, Instagram has been a staple in every creator's toolkit. It's the go-to for quick updates, reels, and visually engaging content. However, despite the effort poured into the platform—whether it's daily reels or strategically curated photos—the returns, especially financial, are diminishing and honestly not-so-great. The platform's ever-changing algorithms and lower earnings compared to other platforms have made it less appealing for full-time content creators.
Why YouTube Wins
YouTube, on the other hand, offers a more stable and lucrative opportunity for creators. It's a platform where I've not only built a substantial following but it's also a platform I understood deeply—from the type of content that drives views to the strategies that boost subscriber counts. The depth of engagement on YouTube, combined with its monetization capabilities, offers SO MUCH MORE than what Instagram offers.
Here’s why I’m shifting my focus more towards YouTube:
1. Longer Content Lifespan: Unlike Instagram, where content quickly fades into the background, YouTube videos continue to garner views and drive revenue long after they are posted.
2. Greater Monetization Opportunities: YouTube’s monetization features, like ads, memberships, and super chats, provide a diversified income stream that Instagram cannot match.
3. Detailed Analytics: YouTube provides comprehensive insights that help creators tailor their content strategically, enhancing both reach and engagement.
The New Instagram Strategy: Community First
I'm not completely quitting Instagram and deleting the app. However, I'm reshaping my approach on Instagram to focus on community building rather than strictly content creation. My strategy will pivot to sharing more spontaneous and casual updates, like photo dumps and stories, where I can interact directly with followers.
What’s Next?
As I continue to produce content that resonates and provides value, I'm excited about the new direction on YouTube. My focus will be on creating videos that not only entertain but also educate and inspire. This platform allows me to connect more meaningfully with my audience, delivering content that they are eager to watch and engage with.
For those wondering about the impact of this shift on my Instagram presence, expect less frequency and more fun. I'll still be there, hanging out in the DMs and sharing snippets of my daily life through stories—because at the end of the day, it's about where our community wants to interact with us.
Stay tuned for more updates, and let’s keep the conversation going both on YouTube and Instagram. Your support and engagement are what drive this journey, and I’m here for it, one platform at a time.
