How to Get Your First 1,000 Subscribers FAST so you can get monetized

Want to watch the video version of this post? I’ve got you covered!
Step 1 – Come in HOT
I want you to make content creation your job and really come in hot, y’all. Make videos PROBABLY more than you’re seeing your favorite creators make videos. Maybe you’re doing 2-3 videos per week.
Creating more videos is always better at the beginning. You have to create some sucky content before you create good content, so more videos means getting better every step of the way.
Plus, with more content, you have more chances of being picked up by the algorithm. It’s like when you’re buying raffle or lottery tickets – more tickets mean you have more of a chance to win. And more videos means a greater chance of winning a spot in the YouTube algorithm!
Step 2 – Find a niche and go ALL IN
When you get started on YouTube, if you’re just doing generic content, it’s MUCH harder to grow. Because you haven’t nailed down 1) who the ideal viewer is and 2) what your content will be about.
The YouTube algorithm wants to pair the right content with the right viewer! And if they can’t figure out who your content is right for, then the algorithm isn’t going to pick up your stuff. That's why you have to find a niche and go ALL IN.
Step 3 – Be different!
If you haven’t heard the quote “Different is better than better” by Sally Hogshead, it’s a great way to live your life. And also a great way to think about your YouTube channel!
Most niches already have some creators in them. So go see the other creators in your niche, figure out what makes you different than them, and run with your differences!
Step 4 – Be a constant student of the platform
If you want to grow on YouTube, you have to recognize that you will learn something from the platform every single day and every single time you post. This isn’t a “set it and forget it” situation. You need to learn, learn, learn, apply, apply, apply, and repeat till the end of time.
I recently saw a comment on one of my videos from a man who told me he was doing everything I recommended and wasn’t growing… And he told me my advice was crap. I don’t normally look at comments, but I happened to see this one and it sparked my interest. So I went to look at his channel and content.

There are SO many things wrong with the content that I notice after like 30 seconds watching them. And they’re things that I have talked about thousands of times on my channel and that I’ve seen other people talk about tons of times, too.
He had lighting trouble, sound trouble, and hadn’t really tried to narrow down to a niche. So I replied to him and mentioned some things he could change for no money to improve them. And then he got mad at me.
My point to that story – if you’re not willing to learn, grow, and take constructive criticism… Then you aren’t going to grow. You HAVE to accept that you aren’t a master at something right when you start! Learn, apply, do it again a million times, and be a constant student of the platform.
Asterisk here – DON’T get so stuck in learning that you never create! Create those crappy videos at first, learn more, improve your content, and keep on keepin’ on.
THAT’s how to get your first 1,000 subscribers fast so you can get monetized. Promise.
