Want to capture what's happening on your screen but don’t know where to start? Whether you’re looking to make a quick tutorial or share a funny moment, screen recording is a handy tool to have. Luckily, it’s pretty easy to do on almost any device. Let’s break down how you can screen record on all devices including – Windows, macOS, iOS, Android, and even Linux.

1. Screen Recording on Windows

Windows makes it easy to record your screen, and while Xbox Game Bar is a popular option, there are other tools you might prefer.

Using Windows 11’s Built-In Tool:

Press
Win + Shift + S
to open the Snipping Tool.

Click on the “Capture” button and select “Screen Recording” from the menu.

Choose the area you want to record and hit the “Start Recording” button.

To stop recording, click the stop button that appears in the notification area or press
Win + Shift + S
again.

Your recording will be saved in the “Videos” folder under “Captures.”

Other Options:

OBS Studio: A free, open-source tool that’s great for more advanced recording and streaming.

Choose whether you want to record the whole screen, a selected portion, or a specific window.

Click the “Record” button to get started.

To stop recording, click the stop button in the menu bar or press
Command + Control + Esc
.

Your video will automatically save to your desktop.

Other Options:

QuickTime Player: Another built-in tool for basic screen recording.

Cool right?

Using the Built-In Feature:

Go to
Settings > Control Center > Customize Controls
and add “Screen Recording” to your Control Center.

Swipe down from the top-right corner of your screen (or up from the bottom on older models) to open the Control Center.

Tap the screen recording button (it looks like a circle inside another circle) to start recording.

To stop, open Control Center again and tap the recording button or tap the red status bar at the top and hit “Stop.”

Your recording will be saved in the Photos app. Easy peasy.

4. Screen Recording on Android

Android devices often come with a built-in screen recording feature, but it can vary a bit depending on your phone – so let's break it down.

Using Built-In Screen Recording:

Swipe down from the top of the screen to open the Quick Settings menu.

Look for “Screen Record” (the name might be slightly different).

Tap “Screen Record” and then “Start” to begin.

To stop, pull down the notification shade and hit the stop button or use the on-screen controls.

Your recording will be saved in your “Movies” or “Screenshots” folder.

Other Options:

AZ Screen Recorder: A popular app with extra features.

DU Recorder: Another great app for recording and editing.

5. Screen Recording on Linux

On Linux, you might need to use some extra software to get screen recording going, but it’s pretty straightforward.

Using Built-In Tools:

GNOME Screen Recorder: If you’re using the GNOME desktop environment, just press
Ctrl + Alt + Shift + R
to start recording. The video will be saved in your “Videos” folder.

Other Options:

Kazam: A simple, lightweight option for screen recording.

No matter what device you’re using, there’s a screen recording solution that fits your needs. From built-in tools to specialized apps, it has never been easier to find how to screen record on all devices. So go ahead and start recording those awesome moments, tutorials, or gameplay videos. Happy recording!

The post How to screen record on ALL devices appeared first on Jessica Stansberry.

Ready to take your editing game from meh to mesmerizing? Whether you’re just starting out or you've been a creator for a hot minute, mastering the art of editing is crucial to keep your audience hooked and your content looking sharp. And guess what? There’s a new tool in town that’s about to make your life so much easier. Say hello to editing hacks with OpusClip’s ClipAnything tool! 🙌

We’re diving into some top editing hacks and techniques that’ll have your subscribers begging for more. Let’s get snipping, trimming, and transforming those videos like a pro!

OpusClip’s ClipAnything: The Ultimate Magic Wand for Editors 🪄

Imagine this: you’ve got hours of raw footage, and the thought of sifting through it makes you want to curl up in a ball and hide under your desk. We’ve all been there. But now, with ClipAnything, you can turn those hours of footage into minutes of pure gold in no time with the editing hacks below.

Here’s the scoop:

AI-Powered Magic: ClipAnything uses AI to find the best moments in your videos—think epic reactions, perfect punchlines, or that flawless b-roll shot you almost forgot about. It’s like having a personal assistant who actually knows what’s up.

Smart Clipping: You don’t have to be a tech wizard to use it. Just upload your video, let ClipAnything work its magic, and boom! You’ve got a collection of perfectly clipped, ready-to-edit moments.

Time Saver Extraordinaire: Instead of scrubbing through footage frame by frame, you can spend that extra time adding creative touches, like overlays, transitions, or just taking a well-deserved coffee break.

Master the Art of Jump Cuts ✂️

Jump cuts are like the caffeine of video editing—they keep things moving and eliminate dead air. Use them to cut out the “ums,” awkward pauses, and rambling (we all do it). The result? A fast-paced, engaging video that keeps your audience on the edge of their seats.

Pro Tip: Overdo it, and your viewers might feel like they’re watching a TikTok on 2x speed. Keep it balanced!

Harness the Power of B-Roll 🎥

Nothing says “pro YouTuber” like some well-timed b-roll. Use it to illustrate what you’re talking about, break up talking-head segments, or just show off your sweet camera skills.

Hack Alert: Got some generic b-roll you shot ages ago? With ClipAnything, you can sift through it and find that perfect clip without losing hours of your life.

Sound Effects: Your Secret Weapon 🔊

Add some pizzazz to your edits with sound effects. A little “whoosh” here and a “pop” there can bring your edits to life. But remember, a little goes a long way—don’t turn your video into a cartoon unless that’s your vibe!

OpusClip's Auto-Subtitles: No More Tedious Typing 🖋️

Let’s be real: manually adding subtitles is as fun as watching paint dry. ClipAnything can automatically generate subtitles, making your content more accessible and engaging. Plus, it’s perfect for those moments when you accidentally mumbled that important line.

Why it’s awesome:

Save Time: More time to film, less time typing. Win-win!

Boost Engagement: People are more likely to stick around and watch your video with subtitles, even when they’re sneakily watching at work. (We won’t tell!)

Experiment with Transitions and Effects 🔄

Keep your audience entertained by spicing things up with creative transitions and effects. But here’s the kicker—don’t use every transition you have just because you can. Choose the ones that fit the mood and vibe of your video.

Fun Tip: Use the “whip pan” transition to give the illusion of seamless movement from one shot to another. It’s like the superhero of transitions!

Color Grading: Make It Pop! 🎨

A little color grading can turn a dull video into a visual masterpiece. Whether you’re going for that cinematic look or just want to fix some funky lighting, color grading can elevate your content.

Quick Hack: Most editing software comes with presets. Find one you like, tweak it, and bam! You’ve got your very own signature look.

Time to Get Clipping!

With these editing hacks up your sleeve and OpusClip’s ClipAnything tool, you’re all set to create content that’s not just good—it’s scroll-stopping, binge-worthy, next-level good. So, fire up that editing software, let ClipAnything do the heavy lifting, and get ready to watch your videos soar.

If you’re not using ClipAnything yet, what are you waiting for? Your subscribers—and your sanity—will thank you. Happy editing! 🎬

The post Tired of wasting time editing?

I'm in the business of making your business life easier, it's kinda my thing, so when I realized that some of you didn't know how to do text replacement for Instagram hashtags, I knew that needed to be high on the list of tech tutorials for this little space on the interwebs.

This is something that I've known about for a while but actually hadn't done until Abagail and Emylee from Think Creative Collective told me it was life-changing and, like always, they were right.

It makes posting to Instagram so much easier and it's a super simple change.

Ok, so the idea here is that you'll pick a word that's not commonly typed by you on your phone and you'll set that up as a text replacement rule so that when that word is typed your phone will replace it with your hashtag bank. This can be crazy useful if you're managing more than one Instagram account (social media managers unite)!

Let's get started.

This tutorial is for iPhone, btw, if you're using Android, <del>you should probably fix that</del> it should be fairly similar.

My word is “holla“, by-the-way.

So, first, go ahead and copy all of those hashtags you normally use out of Notes or messages or wherever you've been storing them.

Then go to “settings > general” and find “text replacement”.

Once there, create a new text replacement by pasting your Instagram hashtags (or whatever you're wanting to type quickly) into “phrase” and your shortcut being the word you want to use.

Again, my word was “holla”, so if I go to type a message (or an Instagram comment, etc) and type “holla” it gives me the replacement as seen below so I just hit space and go on about my day.

It's seriously so freakin' easy.

If you'd rather learn by watching an awesome video, you can do that below.

The post Using Text Replacement for Instagram Hashtags | iPhone appeared first on Jessica Stansberry.
