I'm a rule follower and a rebel which is probably one of the biggest oxymorons in the world but it's true. I do NOT like breaking rules – I follow the speed limits (well, 5ish over), if a sign says an area is restricted I will NOT go there (even if I have permission, I have to force myself to do it), if there's a RULE, I will not break it…but I also REALLY do not like being told what to do, so my rebel side comes in here.
Supposed tos, should dos, and expectations put on me by other people are NOT my thing and I have a natural instinct to just rebel completely when I feel pressured like this.
So, there ya have it, I'm Jessica, a rebel rule-follower and this is my place on the Internets.
Why in the h-e-double-hockey-sticks did I tell you that though? Well, because I need you to know that this place on the Internet of mine kinda breaks all of the “should do”s and “rules” of running an online business.
I'm an online business and blogging teacher, I'm a blogger (home decor and personal development are my favorites here), and I'm putting both of those things on one place on the Internet which is kinda a “no no” when it comes to what all the business gurus would say (I would 100% tell my clients not to do this).
Here's the deal though, my life completely changed when I first started blogging WAAAAY back in 2010 when my first son was born; I jumped into blogging, learned to design blogs because I couldn't stand the UGLY Blogger sites back then, then other people started asking me to design their blogs, then I started a web/blog design company, then I morphed that into teaching the online business things and….whew…here we are.
My life is purposeful and a little scattered and it's a life I love BECAUSE of a combination of #allthethings so, so what if I'm breaking the rules, I've created a life I love by living life on purpose and by design and that includes starting an online business that has provided me the ability to stay home with my kids in the beginning, speak on hundreds of stages and meet thousands of people, use my 6-figure income from selling online courses to allow us to be able to buy a small farm (30 acres) and build our forever home and I LOVE teaching people how to get started – the blogging, the ins-and-outs, the strategies, all of it is my happy place; but, ya know what else has helped me live a life I LOVE? Being SO HAPPY in my home because it's decorated for fall or because there's ship lap, feeling good in my skin and my clothes, having hair that I can go 5 days without washing (with it still looking pretty good), living on a farm with my little family, learning to say “no” more and being a personal development JUNKY and so much more!
So, to just have blog posts about business and how to do things in the online business world, just didn't feel right – I need to teach it ALL to you, the things that I do every day – business or life – that make my life something I'm excited about, something that makes me wake up every morning with a peppy attitude. I need show y'all how to plant a garden (well, that's my husband, but still, ha), decorate a small space in your home, how to start a blog so you can ALSO do this, how to be an influencer or make money with affiliates, how to save the videos and photos on your phone so you never lose them again, how learning to say “no” and protect my time changed my life – ALL THE THINGS.
And if that's breaking the rules, I don't wanna be a rule follower.
