3 ways to promote your live streams so people actually watch

Live stream view numbers can be discouraging! If you’re going live and the numbers are low or it seems like no one is watching, you feel like you’re wasting your time. You might be ready to throw in the towel on your live streams – but don’t quit just yet.

Here are 3 ways to promote your live streams so people actually watch.

1. Have an Attention-Grabbing Title

When you’re creating content, you need to make sure you have an attention-grabbing title for your live stream. Your live stream title is the first thing people see before they click to watch or attend live. Your title should be straight to the point and should let viewers know the topic of your livestream. Leaving people to guess what your topic is based on the title is a surefire way to get people not to watch your live stream.

2. Promote your live streams ahead of time

Promoting your live stream ahead of time plays a big role in getting people to actually watch them. Unless you have a huge following, you’ll need to promote it before you go live. Promoting your live stream beforehand will ensure you’ll get more viewers than just your mom and grandma.

There are several places to promote your live stream before you go live.  Here’s the master list for beforehand promotion:

  • Your Social Media Accounts
    • Your stories
  • To your email list
    • The day before
    • An hour or so before your live stream
  • To your Facebook group
  • On your personal page
  • Your Biz Page

3. Promote your live streams after the broadcast

Now, this is the part that everyone skips. They hit “end” on the broadcast and they think that’s all they need to do. Sorry girl, but that’s far from it. You MUST do the same steps you took to promote your live stream ahead of time after your live stream ends if you want to increase your live stream views when it’s over. Most people don’t watch the actual live stream while you are going live. It is OKAY to promote your live stream after it’s finished. This is NOT overpromotion.

Bonus live stream tip!

Don’t forget about the live stream #replay viewers. Most people forget the replay viewers, but the replay viewers are the most loyal! They always share, like, and comment. Shout them out and ask them to interact with you and share your content as they watch the replay. When they share your live stream, you’ll get more eyes watching than you had before.

These tips are pretty simple, right? Once you implement this plan to promote your live streams, you’ll be sure to get more viewers to watch.
